In line with the Launching of the National Strategy for the Reduction of Teenage Pregnancy, the Government of Sierra Leone approved the creation of a National Secretariat. The role of this new entity is to ensure close coordination, internal communication as well as regular Monitoring and reporting.

The Secretariat interacts directly with all concerned partners including Government Ministries (MOHS, MEST, MSWGCA, MYA and MLGRD), UN Agencies (UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN-Women and WHO), NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and many more partners.

For its day-to-day activities, the National Secretariat is placed under the authority of the Minister of Health and Sanitation and of the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs. It is located in Youyi Building, on the 4th Floor, East Wing.

The role of the National Secretariat is to ensure close coordination, internal communication as well as regular Monitoring and reporting.

The Secretariat’s tasks can be divided in four categories:

> General coordination of the Strategy’s activities,

> Design and operation of a simple but efficient M&E system,

> Coordination of the resource management plan and

> Support to the development of an external and internal communication strategy.

The Secretariat is composed of the following members:

> The Coordinator of the National Secretariat, Ms. Patricia A. Bah (Patmatu69@yahoo.com), who is responsible for the general tasks of the Secretariat, ensure appropriate coordination of the partners and ensure involvement of all stakeholders.

> The Programme Specialist, Mr. Philippe Lust-Bianchi (lustbianchi@nationalsecretariat.org), who supports the coordination of the activities of the Strategy, assist in resource mobilization efforts and is responsible for the relations with the Donors, Development partners and stakeholders of the National Strategy.

> The M&E Officer, who is responsible to manage the M&E System, to interact with partners on data collection exercises and coordinates all reporting activities.
